Parent/Guardian Notification Regarding Security Cameras

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain a top priority in Salida Union School District. To support this commitment, we want to inform you that surveillance cameras have been installed throughout the exterior areas and common spaces at all of our school sites.

These cameras are intended to promote a higher level of safety and security across our campuses. By monitoring building exteriors, hallways, entrances, and other public areas, the cameras help deter vandalism, theft, unauthorized access, and other inappropriate behavior. In addition, video footage can assist in investigations if incidents occur, helping to provide clear evidence when needed.

Please be assured that all cameras are placed in public areas only, where there is no expectation of privacy. Cameras are not located in private areas such as classrooms, offices, restrooms, or locker rooms.
We believe that these cameras, along with our existing safety protocols, will help foster a secure and welcoming learning environment for all students, staff, and visitors.

If you have any questions or concerns about the use of surveillance cameras at our schools, please feel free to contact your school’s main office or the District Office at (209) 543-3119.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe school community.

Sincerely,
Dante Alvarez
Superintendent
