Parent/Guardian Notification Regarding No Cell Phone Policy

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At a Special Board Study Session on July 28, 2025, the Salida Union School District Board of Trustees reviewed and discussed the impact of student cell phone usage on campus. Due to the increasing challenges and disruptions caused by cell phone use during the instructional day, the Board has adopted a new policy to support student learning and well-being.

On August 19, 2025, the Board unanimously approved Board Policy 5131.8 – Mobile Communication Devices, establishing Salida Union School District as a no-cell-phone district across all campuses.

The attached Board Policy reflects this decision and aligns with the Board’s vision to create a safe, focused, and distraction-free learning environment for all students.
